I Bacon your pardon?

Just another quick card I made for my best friend. She's in love with bacon (who isn't?), and she just turned 26! I wanted to make her a fun little card that she'd get a good laugh at.

I made this card with my Silhouette studio, Cameo and printer to print the sentiment. I'm SO excited about my new printer. I'm sure I've said that a few times but it's made my crafting so much more fun! The bacon cut is from Ginny Nielson's designs in the Silhouette store and I used random paper scraps for the rest! Enjoy!

Jinger Adams design team call!!

So, I stumbled upon this not too long ago and I decided that I really wanted to try! It's Jinger Adams design team call!! Most of you know Jinger as the spokesperson for Cricut (LOVE!) and she has set out to design her own line of craft products and shoes! So this is my submission for her design call.

My theme is "Seasons". Just moving back to the mainland from Hawaii has reminded me how much I missed seasons. Hawaii is really just one season: Summer. Seriously though, who's complaining? ;o) But, as I walk my dogs through my neighborhood and I'm seeing flowers blooming,  birds chirping and trees growing green. I realized that I really do love having seasons. I wanted to do my first home decor project. So here it is!

I cut the out of the Give a Hoot cartridge, the nest from Create a Critter and the flowers and leaves are from Flower Shoppe.

For "Winter" I used some flocking powder to mimic snow, and micro beads (both Recollections) to make it look like it was glistening!

For "Spring" I, inked the edges of the flowers with CTMH's "Carnation" and "Blush" inks. I used a peach Spritz spray for the middle flower and added a pearl for the center.

For "Summer" and "Fall", used a Spritz spray and paintbrush and painted around the edges of the leaves to give them a 3 demential look!

I used shadowboxes from Ikea to frame them in. I have them set up here stacked against the wall on a little end table, but they could be hung as well!

I'm really excited for the opportunity to be involved with such an amazing design team! Thank you so much!

OCC: Nate's ABCs - Fab Cricut Challenge!

So FCCB's challenge is this week is "Out Like a Lamb", we have to incorporate a gentle animal. Like a bunny, puppy, kitten, etc. I chose a puppy! I thought it would be perfect for me to make a Nate's ABCs card! However, this card fought and fought me. After forever trying to figure out what I was going to do, it somehow ended up a pull out card! Who knows how I got here, but here it is:

Sentiment I printed off of my computer using TextEdit. (Hi tech, I know... ^_^)

For the card stock behind the car I used "Goosebumps" clear texture spray, "Smooch Spritz" olive color (I think). I let it dry for about 3 minutes then blotted with a paper towel to get a even all over texture.

Cricut Cartridge: Nate's ABCs

Baby card with my Silhouette!

I have been using my Cricut mostly but I also have a Silhouette Cameo. I got it mainly for the print and cut feature. Both are great machines! So I bought a new printer yesterday. It's wide format, goes up to 13"x19" so I can print anything onto 12"x12" paper! It's a Cannon iX6520. Very affordable and so far it prints beautifully. Even pictures!! Anyhoo, I wanted to try print and cut, so I decided to try some simple things first. This baby "b" is from Silhouettes online store, I just love the description in it! Enjoy!

The paper pack is a Walmart brand paper (they really do have some cute papers! and CHEAP!)
"Little one" rub on is from Pebbles
Ribbon and buttons are from my scraps
"B" from Silhouette America!

I'm finally getting followers! I am so grateful for it and I'm so happy that people I don't know respond so well to my work. It really does validate what I do and it's so fun for me to see people appreciate it! Thank you over and over again!!

Love, it grows on trees.

So I got the Stampin Up! "Woodgrain" stamp and I was dying to use it. I had so many ideas so I started with this one. I know it looks like a Valentines day card, and well, it could be used for that! But love doesn't stop after Valentines day (take note boys). And sometimes love needs to be spread other times! Enjoy!

Remembering Nana and Avo

Hello everyone! I've been making projects left and right! I'm sure it's because I'm at home recovering from surgery and I can't do much else (who's complaining?). But to be honest I can't milk it much longer because I'm feeling quite well right now. I'm about 80% which is good enough to retain my normal daily duties. So to squeeze every last drop out of this R&R I've been practically living in my scrap room! HAHA!

So I've decided to start a scrapbook about my Dad's parents and give it to him for fathers day. They've both passed away but we have a very fun history. My Dad is 100% Portuguese and we've been digging and digging for any family heritage we can find. But that being said, my grandparents were 100% American. My grandfather served in the military and Nana was by his side from day 1. I have had this picture of them in a frame for a while and I LOVE it, so I decided to scan it and make a copy and a scrapbook page for it. Here's what came out of it!

I made the flowers out of the Flower Shoppe cartridge. The leaves were from a pack I got at Michaels, but I forget the brand. I twisted the twine into a circle and adhered them with a Zot Dot. I just started using those and have found them quite handy!

I stamped their names and the frame was a CTMH embellishment that I've had forever!

I distressed all the paper with CTMH "Chocolate" Ink.

I have a little set of pearls from Recollections that I scattered across my layout.

The sentiment was "The good Old Days" was a SEI rub on.

And this is my photo. These are my amazing grandparents. My grandpa (Avo in portuguese) and my Nana, 3 months pregnant with her first child, my Aunt and my Dad's big sister. :)

OCC: Something to Celebrate!

Ok, so I borrowed Something to Celebrate from my sister in law. I had to make a few things from it, it was just too cute to pass up. Especially after seeing all of her amazing cards. I had to get in on it. ;o) So I decided to work it into my Operation Cricut Cartridge challenge, where I'm making projects from each of my cartridges (some I've never used!). Here's today's card:

I cut the Lollipop at 4" I believe and I just got a order of bakers twine in today from Talking Twine and Trim on Etsy I just had to use it! I got so many cute colors I had a hard time choosing which one I wanted to use today. ;o) The sentiment is from a CTMH stamp set and I believe it's actually called "Hello There". The tag I cut from George and Basic Shapes at 2.5". I just loved the colors and of course the PINK! Enjoy!

Monday, March 19, 2012

So I'm starting to dabble in more and more stuff when it comes to online crafting! I already did a blog hop at My Pink Stamper, now I've decided to do a challenge! The challenge is at Fabulous Cricut and the theme was spring flowers! The rules were that I had to use at least 3 flowers and obviously use a Cricut cartridge for my art. So here's my card!

For this card I used the "Cricut Essentials" that came preloaded in my Cricut E2. The paper is from the "Faded Denim" paper pack sold by Wal-Mart. I had the lace ribbon in my scraps and the sentiment that I embossed was from a CTMH stamp and for the life of me I just don't know the name of it. Anyhoo, this is it! What a great way to and a rather lazy day. ;o)

A card by Katie!!

Katie is my sister-in-law and #1 crafting buddy. She made a beautiful card the other day and I just had to share it! Enjoy!

Operation Cricut Cartridge: Just Because Cards

Ok, so I was walking by an area in my house that's a catch all for a bunch of photos that I love but really haven't found a home yet. One had been catching my eye now and then so I decided to make a layout for it! This picture was taken on our last sailing trip in Hawaii before we moved back to the mainland (we lived there for 4 years). I kinda wanted to do a sunset theme mainly because it was the sunset to our amazing adventure on the island.

I used the little sailboat in the "Just Because Cards" cartridge (too cute!!)   I cut the sails out of linen so it looks real-ish. Then, I remembered I had the "Salt Air" paper kit from Cosmo Cricket!! Perfect!! I'm still in recovery from my surgery but I think it turned out pretty cute all things considered! I hope you love it!

YAY for Blog hops!!

Ok, so I'm actually recovering from surgery (laparoscopy was yesterday) today so I'm pretty laid up (and doped up :o/) . However, I saw the blog hop that's happening at My Pink Stamper and somehow I summoned the strength and brain cells to throw this together and enter it. I had purchased the St. Patricks day set for CCR and I decided to use the dancing Irish girl. She's so cute! I cut her at 3" and the paper is from my scraps I have no idea what it's from. I wish I could have had more time with this card but I just had to get back to rest. I hope you like it!

Operation Cricut Cartridge: Just a Note

This cartridge is only available on the Cricut Expression 2 Anniversary Edition. Which I think it should be available to everyone. Maybe at least for the Cricut Craft Room. I absolutely love this cartridge!!!! It's designed by Cosmo Cricket and they are one of my favorite paper designers. You'll find me using a lot of their papers. I'm pretty sure this cart is to correspond with their "Togetherness" paper collection. Which is adorable. Someday when I have a child I'd like to use this cartridge to design their nursery. There are some seriously cute images!!

I had a hard time choosing one image but I totally fell in love with this little fox. I found him so whimsical and fun I just had to use him!! The card measures 5" x 61/2" and I cut my little guy at 4 1/2". I got the grass and shrubs from Every Day Paper Dolls and they are cut at different sizes. The ink I used for the sentiment is Close To My Heart "Goldrush" and the stamp is from Michael's, I just can't remember the set's name.

I hope I gave you a little inspiration! And I hope you love him as much as I do!!

See a penny, pick it up, all day long, you'll have good luck!

So I made this little tiny envelopes that I was going to use for something and it didn't work out. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with them. My husband said that it was only big enough to hold something like a penny. Ding!! So cute and so easy!! I can't wait to send Good Luck to the people who I know could use a little extra!

Operation Cricut Cartridge: Preserves

This is one of my favorite cartridges. I have lots of ideas for it but I just never get around to doing them. Since springtime is coming up, I thought the watermelon was super cute. It reminds me of when we went camping as kids at the Rogue River. We used to put our watermelons in plastic bags, tie it to the tree and throw it in the river. So the watermelon wouldn't take up space in the cooler but still be SUPER cold when we retrieved it from the river and were ready to eat it! That's what inspired this card. Enjoy!

Operation Cricut Cartridge: From My Kitchen

I really loved the fridge on the "From My Kitchen" cartridge. I was making cookies in a jar for some of my friends and I thought it would be cute to make a tag using the fridge! I used my Gypsy to weld the two biggest pieces together to create the tag part that is welded at the top. Hope you like it!!

So I'm pulling this post out of the depths to enter it into the Cricut Cardz Challenge with Mary from Cardz TV!! The challenge was to make something with a tag, using a Cricut Cartridge. Well, I made a tag using From My Kitchen and I love love love them! I figured they were perfect for the challenge. ;)

Elephant Card!

Turns out I had a little extra time so I whipped this little guy up real quick. I picked up those water drops at Wal Mart for like $1 or something like that. They've just been sitting around so I decided to incorporate them into my next card. I got the elephant from the Silhouette website. I LOVE him and will probably be using him a lot. Hope you like it!

Springtime is near

Hello everyone! So we've had a super mild winter here is Northern California. I expected way worse after just moving here from Hawaii but it honestly hasn't been so bad. So the husband and I are going out to buy a tree to plant in our back yard! But before we go I had to throw together a quick card to pop in the mail for my Aunt Bev. She gave me a sewing machine not too long ago and it has been a joy having it in my scrap room. Spring was my inspiration for this one! Enjoy!

My Craft Room!

While there is still LOADS of work to be done to it, I thought I'd share my craft room! I just cleaned it and it probably won't look this good again for a while. ;o) I'm a messy scrapper. Click on them to see them bigger. I'm still figuring out how I can get them bigger on the page without them being cut off on the side. :)

Here's right when you walk in. I shoved a lot of furniture into a little space so it's kind of tight but I just love it!

This is my Silhouette Cameo / Cricut E2 station. Right now all of my cartridges are kinda smooched together because of space and I've been using my Cameo more. The piece of paper on the side is a list of my carts so I know what I have to work with. I recently sold like 30 of them because I found myself hoarding cartridges! I thought they would be better off with people who'd use them.

The branch and birds were so easy to make. The branch is made out of craft wrapping paper! I laid it out and drew the branch then cut it out. For the leaves I used a few different types of cardtstock, you can't tell but there's also a patterned paper in there. I think it was a CTMH paper, I wish I remembered the collection. I used the Flower Shoppe cartridge for the leaf shape. The birds were used from the Recollections Mosaic Memories paper pad. I LOVE that paper pad, enough to buy two! I'm pretty sure I used the Winter Woodland cartridge for the birds. And I just used my ATG gun to tape it on!! It's over a month old and still stuck really good so we'll see how long it stays.

Most of my furniture is from Ikea. I LOVE Ikea. Both desks and the shelving is from there, I need to get some baskets so it doesn't look so cluttered but I know where everything is so I kind of don't mind. I found these picture holder things to hang my ribbon and embellishments, it worked out way better than I thought it would!

The black desk was my OLD scrap desk. I lived in a 650 sq. ft. apartment in Hawaii (my husband is in the military). So I had to fit my Cricut and cartridges and ALL of my craft stuff on or under that table! Needless to say, this home and room has been a huge blessing. That set of drawers is perfect for my paper. I keep my scraps in the top two drawers and full sheets of cardstock and paper kits in the drawers beneath it. My other embellishments is in the bottom drawer. I love that thing! Plus it's on wheels so I can wheel it out and put it next to me while I'm working on a project. Again, it's from Ikea. :)

Oh and the blanket on the ground is for my Papillons, Hank my 5 year old and Baxter he's 6 months old.

They pretty much rule the roost!
