Hot Air Balloon

So, as of late, I've had a serious obsession with hot air balloons. Like, obsessed. I've been looking around for hot air balloon art, to no avail. While the art is beautiful, it isn't exactly what I was looking for. So I decided to make it! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!

Supplies used:

Frame: Some old frames I had I removed the glass so I could make the hot air balloons and clouds 3D!
Hot Air Balloon and Clouds: Various cardstock I had laying around and a cut file from Silhouette Studio.
Twine: "Tiara Yellow", "Royal Red", "Prince Charming Blue" The Scrapbooking Queen
Background Paper: From the Alouette paper pack from Lettering Delights

Great ending to a great weekend!

I had a fantastic weekend! I hope everyone else did too! It feels good to let out all of your creative juices that you've been holding onto after a fun packed weekend. I sat down next to my paper scraps and wondered what I could do with them. I keep EVERYTHING, thinking I could use it. And eventually I do! There's always use out of the littlest scraps of things. You'd be surprised what you could make! I didn't use my Cameo or E2 for this one either! The picture is of my niece, Imogen and I (she's almost 1!). I'm having so much fun being her aunt. She's such a great baby! Enjoy!

I just picked out all the little pieces of paper and hand cut them (I didn't mind not having uniformity) into strips. I had the most fun digging through my buttons finding the perfect ones! Also, I don't love my handwriting, but I love it for scrapbooking. There's something very special about finding something my grandparents had written and knowing they took the time to document it. I hope my work stays around long enough for my grandkids to see it. And understand that memory I scrapbooked, was meaningful enough for me to try to preserve it.

Supplies used:

Cardstock, buttons, ribbon, letters: Scraps!
Felt stars: Pebbles layered embellishments
"Cute as a button" and butterfly rub ons: K&Company
Ink (edges of paper): CTMH Crystal Blue

Pretty Excited!

Ok, so I haven't been blogging long. Only about 6 months of solid uploads and whatnot. In this short time I have the incredible opportunity to be a part of two design teams. The women I get to design with are so incredibly talented and this has been such a fun experience for me (and I've learned a thing or two in the process!). Well, I got my AH-MAZING Scrapbooking Queen stamps in today! Um, TOO EXCITED!

Ever since I found out I was on The Queen's design team, I've been inspired by so many things that relate to anything and everything Royalty. So, I came across this Lettering Delights collection "Jolly Good Time".  And instantly fell in love with the telephone booth. In anticipation of the arrival of The Queen's stamps, I made this card last night. I had so much fun with it and I can tell that the fun is just beginning with these stamps! I already have tons of ideas stockpiled! Enjoy!

Supplies used:

Telephone Booth Cut File: Lettering Delights "Jolly Good Time" and my Silhouette Cameo

Stamp: The Scrapbooking Queen "Queen's Birthday"

Banner: "3 Banners" by Sweet Afton in the Silhouette Studio Store

A Little Birdie

So, using my Silhouette Studio software, I've been meaning to make a card just by printing. I'm sure you could easily do this with loads of other programs but it was so easy to do with Silhouette Studio that I just did it. I could easily mass produce these. A little later I'll show a video tutorial on how to do it (it's seriously so easy, it takes little to no effort at all!). But in the meantime, here is the easiest most simple card I've ever made. And I LOVE IT. Sometimes it's refreshing to see a little simplicity. Enjoy!

Nostalgia

Hello everyone! I'm hoping everyone's week is going well so far. Ok, so I'm kinda in a vintage nostalgic kick right now. My Dad had this picture up for AGES. He used to own a body shop and I remember it being on his desk in his office when we were kids. It's my brother and I riding my cousin's horse. I'm pretty sure I was about 3 years old. Anyway, I absolutely love this picture. My big brother and I have a very close relationship. I'm lucky to have a great relationship with all 5 of my siblings. My dad scanned this picture for me and I had to use it for my next layout. I hope you enjoy it!

Here's my inspiration. I'm a horsewoman at heart. I was raised with horses and showed them. If ever I had a passion that trumped crafting, it would be horses.

I made the bunting from some of the lace I dyed with Easter egg dye

The sentiment was made using my Silhouette Cameo and some chipboard letters that I've had for a while.

And yes, I even did some stitching!! I'm really loving making pages for some of my old photos. It's a very special way to showcase such awesome memories. I think I'm going to shadow box this one. I just love this picture so much!

An aimless day in my craft room...

Usually, when I walk across the threshold into my scrap domain, I already have something of a game plan in my head. I'd have been inspired by something or finally decide to get to a project I've been putting off. Today however, I walked in with a brain as empty as can be. I had no idea what I was going to do. Sometimes I love those days, other times, I hate them. Well, I loved today. Actually, I hated today, I was having a particularly bad day, which is why I took refuge in my craft room. But eventually, it turned around. ^_^ I was determined to not use my Cricut or Silhouette for my card today. I was digging through my embellishment drawer (I really need to come up with a better solution to that) and my embellishment wall (yeah, I have a "embellishment wall" LOL) to find things that I've been meaning to use. Anyhoo, (this is getting too long!) I put all of those items in a pile, and I went to town. I love how this hodgepodge of stuff turned out. I hope you enjoy it too!

"Hey" was from a box of letters I bought a few years back on the scrapbook store they had on Hickam AFB. I loved that little store and I'm almost ashamed to say that's one of the biggest things I miss about Hawaii. The typewriter font is from Walmart in the $.97 bin! The super cool transparent journaling background is from Michael's, I just got a pack of them on clearance, not long ago. They might still have them! The brackets on the end I've had in my stash forever and they are CTMH.

The inside sentiment was a rub-on from Recollections!

The banner I've had for a long time too. I forget the company it's from. I had to cut off a few inches, I was bummed because I loved the print of the other bunting triangles, but it was just too long.

Happy Birthday Imogen!

I am blessed to have a beautiful niece, Imogen, who is turning 1 year old in May. I needed to make her birthday card! Yes, it's a ways away, but I had the idea in my head so I had to make it! My sister-in-law's idea for party colors is purple, grey and turquoise so I made it accordingly! Enjoy!

What it took:

Flourish Border and Letters: Storybook
Patterned Paper: Recollections
Bakers Twine: Talking Twine and Trim

Also, I realized that I met the guidelines for the FCCB challenge!! Yay! I look so forward to challenges, it's so fun to see what everyone comes up with!!

Fishy Kids Memory Game!

Hello everyone!! I'm watching my 11 month old niece today and I'm taking advantage of her nap time to add another project I recently made! I used the "Something Fishy" collection from Lettering Delights to make a memory game!! I had made one before (using Create a Critter) and sold it on my Etsy store I had a while ago. I had about 30 things listed and the only thing I sold was that darn Memory game. So I decided to make another! I hope you like it!

I'm thrilled to be getting more comfortable with the Silhouette software. Now that I know my way around a little better I'm making such cool stuff that I never knew I could!

Poppy Wreath

Hello everyone! Happy Monday! So, I frequent the Cricut website quite a bit. I kept seeing this beautiful poppy wreath using the "Giant Flowers" cartridge. Sadly, I don't own that cart (yet!). So I had to make my variation of it using my Silhouette Cameo. It's a little small so I don't think it'll go on my front door but I'm sure I'll find somewhere for it! Enjoy!

I thought a collection of these would be cute along the back of my chairs, I still think it's a little big for that, but it looks like I'll have to make more! One set for each holiday!

Supplies Used:
Flowers: Silhouette Studio
Wreath: One of those green ones from Michaels
Burlap: Walmart
Pearls: Recollections from Michaels

Easter Egg Dye - Not Just For Eggs!

Hello Everyone! Still rolling with the Easter theme! My husband came home from work last night to find freshly chilled hard boiled eggs, cups full of egg dye, stickers and magic crayons galore and a very eager wife. I waited all day to dye the eggs, because I knew that deep down inside his manly facade, he too loves to dye Easter eggs. It turns out, I was right. ;o) Here's how our family's egg dying went!

Afterward, we were left with full cups of egg dye and I hated to waste it. So I decided to dye a scrap of lace fabric I had laying around. Well that prompted me to SHARE! Because I love how it turned out! So today, I decided to dye more eggs and decided to show you how I dyed my lace.

What you'll need:
  • left over egg dye
  • parchment or wax paper
  • a bowl of water (large enough to hold whatever you are dyeing)
  • lace or any kind of fabric will work
  • a spoon (I chose a clear plastic one so I could see what I was doing)
  • paper towels
  • apron
  • latex gloves (just to protect your hands from getting dyed themselves!) If you do get dye on your hands, it can be removed using baking soda and vinegar!

Start by dipping your fabric into the bowl of water. The water helps to pull the dye across the fabric. I wring it out just a little so it's not sopping wet. Then place it on a sheet of parchment paper. Make sure the parchment paper is big enough to hold your fabric and any dribbled dye.

Then take a dye color of your choice and spoon it across the fabric. Going slow enough to streak it and tilt the spoon slightly so it doesn't fall into one spot (unless you want that effect). :o) Be sure to wipe of excess off the spoon with a paper towel before dipping it into another color.

Continue with whatever colors you choose, however many you choose. In whatever pattern you choose.

When you are finished your fabric will look something like this.

When you are done, carefully pick up the ends of your fabric and transfer it to another piece of dry parchment paper. Make sure the other paper is close by because it will drip. Wait until it dries completely. And you have yourself dyed fabric!!

Here are some other things I had laying around my craft room that I dyed in the Easter egg dye. I LOVE how the clothespin turned out. I just might do that again for the 4th of July!

Here are some projects I made using my dyed lace.

This lace was from the first batch I did. The colors turned out more subtle because when it was drying I blotted it slightly with a paper towel. This helps you accomplish a more pastel look instead of the bright colors!

So there it is! I really hope you got some inspiration from it! The sky is the limit on what you could dye! If you think of anything else please let me know! I'd love to see some projects! Happy Easter everyone!

Happy Easter 2.0

Hello again! Well, I had been seeing all kinds of cute bunny shaped cards in my online wanderings today.  And I wanted to take a stab at it! I decided that these are the cards I'll send to our families. So I made three with slight variations and I LOVE them! I'm still getting used to Cricut Craft Room but I was able to make the card using that! Enjoy!
